Why not start the merge from Outlook, in your contacts folder? Choose Tools | Mail Merge.

I should have been more specific. I do start in Outlook, Tools, Mail Merge. I
then get to Mail Merg Helper, I select the Get Data button and then I select
the Open Data Source, then I select Connect to New Data Source (one of two
options). Then I get Data Connection Wiz which gives me 4 choices, I select
Other/advanced and got to Data Link Properties and get 30+ options. I select
MS OLE Provider Outlook and then am lead to Data Link Prop. Connection and a
blank where it asks for the file to connect to . There is no browser buttion
so I am stumped. It seems like this mail merge should be simpler.

It *is* simpler. You're adding an extra step you don't need. If you start the merge from Outlook, then Word already knows what data you want to use. You don't need to click Get Data. See if this article gets you back on track: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289965
