Default problem protecting calculated field in table

I have a form document created in word 2003 that calculates 2 fields to be
input by a user of this form. I have form protection turned on, but I cannot
figure out how to protect the calculated field so when this form is shared
with the users, they cannot change it. I need to protect this field but
still have it calculate! Is there a way to do this?

There's a setting for "Fill-in enabled." Clear that check box.

Hi Kelly,

Are the other fields set to 'calculate on exit', and does your calculating
field refer to the bookmarks set by those other fields?

Also, is the calculating field in the protected part of the document?

Cheers

Tried switching it to a straight calculation and it still will not calculate
when the form is in the "locked" position.
I have also tried the form field calculation with the calculate on exit.
Does not work if the form is locked.
I am not sure about the bookmark I need more information regarding this.

FYI the entire form is locked.

Why don't you share with us:

1. The bookmark names of the variable fields.
2. The formula field that you are using.

Ensure that "Calculate on exit" is checked in the variable fields and
"Fill-in enabled" in unchecked in the formula field.
