Default Problem after upgrading to Outlook 2003

Hi,

Today, I upgraded my machine from Office 2000 to Office 2003 (my OS is
Win2000). Ironically, now whenever I open Outlook 2003, besides the normal
Outlook 2003 bar on the taskbar, there's also the old Outlook 2000's icon
displayed in the system tray. If I double click on that icon, it activates
the running Outlook 2003 instance. When I close the Outlook 2003 instance, it
disappears too.

This is really annoying to me. How can I get rid of that icon ?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can on Windows 2000. It's used for notifications. You can
right-click on it to select the alerts you want and to select "hide when
minimized" so you only get that entry and no Taskbar entry when Outlook is
minimized.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, but I really don't understand why that icon can't be
removed. It's a leftover of Outlook 2000. Obviously, this is a bug of the
Office 2003 installation package.

When Outlook is not minimized, I expect no icon is displayed in the system
tray. And when Outlook is minimized, I expect the icon of Outlook 2003,
rather than the one of Outlook 2000 as in my situation now, is displayed in
the system tray (after choosing "Hide when minimized")

Any other ideas ?

Thanks
