Default Making individual contact records private

From previous persons post:
Perhaps I am missing something but I got new laptop and decided to use
Outlook instead of Outlook Express AND Palm Desktop software. After
combining, I realized that records (contacts, tasks, memos, appts) marked
"Private" are totally visible with a little key! I want them totally hidden
or at least masked but I can't seem to find any feature. That is totally
unacceptable! I have all of my creditcard info, and a lot of other private
information including a daily diary, etc. in my Palm and a visible key
doesn't mean a darn thing to me. But someone sitting down at my computer can
see all of this or God-forbid I lose my computer...now that's a problem. Help
someone...if not, how do we get them to add this feature?

I agree completely. How is it that Palm has had this basic feature since
it's inception and this feature is not even in Outlook 2007 ??!!!

Come on guys, you're really dropping the ball here. Many people have been
asking for this basic feature. When are you going to add this ??. Until then
I guess I'll stick to Palm for now.

Marking a contact "Private" doesn't mean the person using the computer can't
see it. If that were true, how would you ever see your contacts again once
you marked them private? "Private" means that, in a sharing environment
like Exchange, other people sharing your contacts can't see those entries
you've marked private; ony you can see them. You'll never be able to hide
them from yourself, and rightly so.

Having physical access to a PC means, in general, there is no security,
unless you can encrtypt your data with a method to which only you know the
solution, and there are thrid-party tools that can do that, but Windows (and
Outlook) don't come with them by default.
