Default The find and replace is grayed out, how do I turn it back on?

I have an original document that is used alot, and on one particular computer
the find and replace is grayed out so that it is not accessible. Is there a
function that I need to check to access it?

Be certain your cursor is in the text box, if it is...
do a "detect and repair" under help.
