I didn't know that - but it doesn't make me unhappy to read it. I really
hate cutesy emails with animated gifs. It's okay if you're a 14-yr old girl
but I haven't been 14 for a few years.

In Outlook 2007 animated viewing of animated gif's has been removed. This
was still available on Office 2003 but this function was removed from Office
2007

You mean you got an email with a picture but it doesn't move? Are you sure
it's supposed to move? Not all do.

Not me! I remember my teen years all too well. Peer pressure is something I
can do without.

You're welcome. You post young, my posts reveal me to be the grouchy
old guy I really am.

I can handle a graphic if there's a reason for it but that's about
it.

I have no objections to attachments, but I just don't want stuff in the
body of the message. The attachment gives me the choice of opening it
or deleting it.

If you're using Outlook, you can tell it to display all email as plain text.
If there's something the formatting of which you actually want to see, click
the bar at the top of the email to view the formatted version.

This makes e-life a lot more tolerable for me. In Outlook 2007, it's in
Tools - Trust Center - E-mail Security. I've forgotten where the setting is
in Outlook 2003. In Windows Mail, it's in Tools - Options - Read, and I
think it's in the same place in Outlook Express.

Didn't know that, either, but I use Office 2003 and seldom use
Outlook or OE.

but it doesn't make me unhappy to read it. I really hate cutesy

5 years, right? ;-)

I really get tired of telling people to send nothing but plain text
emails, I'm set up to NOT see anything but text in an email message.

I've spent a very long time thinking of an acceptable punishment for
whoever inflicted IncrediMail on the world, it involves a LOT of pain!

Don't use Outlook or OE except for compatibility at work which I no
longer need so all my email is handled by Pegasus Mail, news by Xnews.

I did that.

In Windows Mail, it's in Tools - Options - Read, and I think it's

I never use either anymore, now that I don't need Outlook I'll probably
delete it and also delete OE (yes, it can be done, the instructions
used to be on the MSFT website). I'll have to find out how to delete
Windows Mail in Vista but I'll bet it's about the same procedure as
deleting OE...
