Default All Office programs 'reset' when closed

A strange problem I haven't seen befo

On a specific machine with office 2003 installed, all customisations
seem to reset when Office programs are closed. This includes (at
least) insertsymbol shortcuts, toolbar customisations and autocorrect
entries. Interestingly, Adobe Acrobat menu and toolbar are not
affected.

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks!

Is Adobe Acrobat 7.0 installed on the computer? If yes, then the
Acrobat 7.0 Create Adobe PDF toolbar add-in for Word prevents Word from
automatically saving changes to the normal.dot template (which is where
toolbar customizations are stored). See
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowled....cfm?id=331259 for
several solutions to the problem.

I think you've found the solution! Thanks for that - you've saved me a
