Default keeping page number in same place in portrait and landscape

I have a long document, some section are in portrait page
format, others are in landscape.
Ultimately, the document will be bound as portrait, and I
am required to have the page number at the bottom of all
pages as if they were all in portrait.
In practice, the page number of landscape pages has to
appear in the same position (and with the same
orientation) as the page number of the portrait pages.
How do I do this?

I would appreciate any help.

Ms. Mitchell, if you must. But first names are generally polite enough
in newsgroups, I think.

Glad to help point you toward the resources.
