Default Input a user version number via hyperlink/ASK/input box

Hello group:

This may not be the place for a question like this but
here it goes. I am trying to insert a version number into
my document in several places; but not the one that is
supplied which updates on number of saves. I have a need
to supply my own version number and I was wanting an easy
way to input the number via hyperlink to an input box/ASK
if possible. Something like -

Version ##

where I could use a hyperlink/input box when I click
on '##' to bring up a popup/text box and type in a number
that would be assigned to a variable and used elsewhere in
the document.

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

Michael,

This may be close to what you are looking for.

Type: ASK Version "Enter the version number" REF Version

Select: ASK Version "Enter the version number" and press CTRL+F9
Select REF Version and press CTRL+F9

Press F9, enter the version number and click OK.

Use additional REF Version fields in the other places you want the number to
appear.

Press F9 at anytime to update.
