Add nonwrapping label to custom shape
Hello,
I'm trying to add a label to a custom shape but I don't want it to wrap. I can drop a predefined shape on edit the label w/o it wrapping, but when I change the label on a custom shape it always wraps. |

In the Shapesheet, you need to change the formula for the TxtWidth cell (in
the Text Transform section). Set it to: TEXTWIDTH(TheText) -- Mark Nelson Office Graphics - Visio Microsoft Corporation This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Add nonwrapping label to custom shape
Thank you very much. That works great. One more question though. Some
shapes "hide" the Text Transformation section, e.g. the Mainframe shape from Enterprise Application stencil. However it allows text input that doesn't wrap and can extend beyond the size of the shape. I would like my shapes to have the same default behavior when I add them to a drawing without having to modify the TextWidth. Thanks! If you don't see the Text Transform section, you may have to insert it.
The way to set this behavior up permanently is to create a Master shape. The simplest way to do this is to create a shape that works the way you want, then create a new blank stencil and drag the shape into it. -- Mark Nelson Office Graphics - Visio Microsoft Corporation This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
