Thanks Mark.

I created a square using the rectangle tool and then dropped it on the
Legend shape and the square became an entry in the legend.

Though the legend does have a help file, it does not contain a description
of this feature. One thing I miss from the Visio 3 days, is the little books
that explained what stencils were available and how to use them.

You can drop a shape on top of the legend to make the legend start
recognizing that shape. This is easier than manually working in the
Shapesheet.

Try deleting the legend box and dropping a new one on the page.

The legend box is filled when an appropriate shape is dropped on the page
or when the legend box is dropped on the page and it takes a look around
to see who is there.

Ok I have finish to add for all my shapes a user.visLegendShape with a
value
equal to 2 . Now it seems that the legend box is not updated, still keep
the
same first test shape taht I did : how to update it. even if I delete it
and
drag and drop a new one. it still show the same legend for the first
shape
that I parametrized : same if I select the first shape and deleted the
row
"user.visLegendShape " : this legend box still is the same.

Thanks

For the legend to work the shapes need a user defined cell called
"visLegendShape".

So for each shape you would like to include in the legend, open the
shapesheet for the shape (or perferable the master) and add A User
section
if one does not exist. Then add a new row and call it
"visLegendShape". I am
not sure the meaning of the value, but the examples I have seen are
"2".

news Hi,

I did that : so I got a legend shapes box added to my current
list of
shapes
. than if I select and drag and drop the legend box in my
drawinf window
, I
got in this legend box :"No symbols exist on the page to
display"., even
if
all my drawung (so with all symbols ) are exactly in the same
window. So I
don't know what to do to make the legend box know that symbols
are present
in
the same page.

Thanks

possible

add directly a box of legend with all the name of those

Make sure that the shapes not appearing in the legend are 2-D shapes. The
legend will ignore 1-D shapes.

Hi,

Thanks a lot : it is working perfectly, almost for all my shapes : except
for some in the fluid power equipement (metric) like drain or pressure
gauge or flow indicator : I have try a new drawing with only those shapes
and
try to get them in a legend box , it is not working (try different
location
in the legend box). is it a bug or not ?

thanks
