Default Outlook Web Access - Export Contacts?!

I am trying to export contacts from Outlook Web Access. Is that possible?

I tried circumventing that and exporting to Excel and Word from a Contacts
file in public folders in Outlook just off someone's computer but it needs
the Translator installed (I don't know where the disk is). I tried just
creating a .pst and saved on the desktop, but it gave me a succinct error
message to the effect of "that is so not going to happen."

So I'm back to the account which apparently is only accessible via Web
Access. This account is no longer on the shared network with the others in
the office.

I'm a temp in small, small office, so I don't have a lot of IT options.

No, that's possible. OWA is a web browser program. It has no awareness of the drives on your local compuer.

Dear Sue:

Thanks for your prompt response. To clarify, you mean it's not possible to
export a Contact file from OWA.

I should have been more clear: when I tried exporting to a .pst, that was
not from OWA. I was trying other options before resorting to
cutting-and-pasting 1000 addresses for a holiday card mailing

Thank you again, I appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Rebecca

So you're not using OWA after all? You're using desktop Outlook? Create a new .pst file and copy the folder you want from Public Folders into the .pst file.

Correct. OWA has no export or import capability.

I should have been more clear: when I tried exporting to a .pst, that
was not from OWA.

Unlike OWA, which interfaces only with the Exchange server and does not know
about the client PC, the local Outlook client resides on the PC and can do
things there that OWA cannot, like see PSTs and manipulate them.

If you have 1,000 addresses in your Exchange mailbox and you want to use
them to create holiday cards, Outlook Web Access is not the interface you
want to use. Use Office Outlook installed on your PC.

Note: you should never export to or import from a PST. There's no need and
you lose data in the process. If you want to copy what's in a PST, use
Windows Explorer while Outlook is closed to make a copy of the PST. To use
in Outlook the data in a PST, just open it in Outlook.
