Default Moving pub. file from one computer to another

You may have sufficient HD space, but that message may still come up if you
try to save directly to a CD. If you Pack to the HD you can then burn to the
CD.

As the others have said, USB drives are a real steal right now so I wouldn't
be without one - in fact, I have 3. Just use 'em right & they'll serve you
well. My son carried a Sandisk Cruzer Titanium in Kuwait/Iraq for about 8
months & still works like brand new.

Glad we had some useful info to offer.

Good Luck |:)

Thanks for the information Cyber Taz! I sure learned a lot here!

When I try the FilePack and Go to save onto a CD, my computer tells me
that my I don't have enough space on my hard drive--and to remove unnecessary
programs and files.

My file is about 16MB and will get larger by the time I'm finished working
on it. I will try to use my CD burning software to copy the file onto a CD.
I didn't think about that. I thought that I could just copy directly from
Publisher.

If I go the Winzip route, I'll need to buy and install software. That's
okay, too, if it will work with my obvious technology-challenged
capabilities. What do you think about the uploading sites that John
recommended? I registered at one, but didn't get to try it out yet.

Thanks again! I really appreciate your help!

Is the file too large to send or are you actually being notified that the
mailbox is too full? How big is the file?

Are you using Publisher '03? Have you tried the FilePack and GoTake to
Another Computer... wizard?

I just used it on a 4 page NL & resulted in a 650K folder which should be
plenty small enough to email or definitely move to a USB drive with no
problem. Even with several hi-res graphics it should transport easily
enough. (I also embedded 4 fonts & 4 13MB TIFFs in it for a Pub file of
1.45MB on disk, Packed to 706K - surprised even myself :-}).

Certainly shouldn't choke up the HD - or are you trying to save directly to
a CD? That's a no-no. Use your CD-Burning software to copy the Pub file to a
CD (the same for a USB drive if you go that route). As long as it's a clean
disk you should have plenty of room for linked graphics, embedded fonts,
etc. - CDs hold about 650 MB, USB drives can go up in the gigs.

Then there's always file compression utilities, like WinZip, et. al.

I am working on a four page newsletter on my home PC. I want to send it to
my work laptop. I usually do this by email. This file is too large to
send
it by email according to AOL.

I tried burning it on to a CD, but my PC tells me that I don't have enough
space on my hard drive.

Can someone help me figure out what to do? Would I be able to save it on
a
flash drive? Thanks for your help!

Hi Cyber Taz: I tried to pack it to the HD and that's when the "insufficient
space" message came up. It wouldn't allow me to do that. As suggested, I
used the software burner and it worked out! I also took everyone's advice
and ran down to the store and purchased a 2GB on sale for almost half the
price. I wonder why I didn't think of doing it sooner! Thanks so much for
your help. I really appreciate what you do. Aloha!
