Default "Intelligent" copy to cells below

I want to copy a cell to the blank cell below it and
continue to copy until another value is found, then I
want to copy that new value into all the blank cells
below. Example:

Pet Dog I want to write something that will
Cat copy "PET" to all the cells below it
Bird until it comes to "Food" and then copy
Food Apple that until it comes to "Car".
Peach
Banana
Car Ford
Chevy
BMW

Any ideas? thanks in advance

Select your first column cells (down to BMW). Choose
Edit/Goto/Special and select the blanks radio button. Click OK. Type
"=", then up arrow then CTRL-ENTER.

This is a technique I first saw in a post by John Walkenbach.
