In the Windows folder? They are usually updates, service packs and the like. If

Hi Mary, thanks for the fast reply. When I open up Microsoft Publisher

2002, then click on "FILE", then click on "OPEN", then click on one of
my file folders, some of the font colors of the publisher document file

names are in the bright color of blue while all the others are black.
This has NEVER happened before. Any thoughts?

Thanks...Tom Gearhart

Maybe the files are compressed?

Right click one of the blue files and from
the menu...choose...Properties / General
tab / Advanced button...

Uncheck...Compress Contents To Save
Disk Space...OK / Apply / OK..

WOW! Thanks, John! That was it. How the hell did you know that? All the
files with a blue font color are compressed. I didn't do it, so how did
they get compressed? I take it that there is no danger in letting them
stay compressed?

Again, thanks!

If you use Disc Cleanup and don't pay attention to the prompts it will
compress unused files.
