Power point has refused to show slide & textbox background color
Office 2003 version of PPt. has spontaneously refused to show slides ( normal
view)in their proper colors, ditto for the textboxes. Pictures look fine. Slideshow shows everything normally. Any ideas? |

Start by updating your video driver. Go to the website of your video card's
manufacturer and look in the download or support sections for drivers for your video card and your version of Windows. -- Sonia Coleman Microsoft PowerPoint MVP Team Autorun Software, Templates and Tutorials "willowgarden" wrote in message ... Hi Sonia:
Thanks for your reply. I have dicovered that Excel is doing the same thing. These are Windows XP versions MSOffice03. I have a new computer and I am wondering if I re set something in the display mode that may have interfered as both programs were perfectly normal a day or two ago. I am assuming that the various video display should be up to date. I have found that Windows XP make things very small, so I have my screen resolution at ~the mid point....color quality at high. I did change the icon size for buttons, but don't think that should interfere. Don't have a clue about video cards, but will have a look. Cheers "Sonia" wrote: Start by updating your video driver. New computers almost always arrive in the home with drivers that are 12-24
months old. That is due to the manufacturing/shipping/stocking cycle. If it's a laptop, let us know the make and model and I'll tell you how to find out. There is also a very useful free program that you can run at any time that will tell you all of the minute details about your system and software including your video card - - see http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html. It's the inconsistency that points to the display driver. You can test it in Safe mode and if the problem does not occur there, then is it is the driver. If you press F8 when you restart your computer, it will allow you to select Safe Mode with no drivers loaded. "willowgarden_ns" wrote in message ... Hi Sonia: Thanks for your reply. Any ideas? Just a hunch, but check View, Color/Grayscale and make sure it's set to Color. I'd expect Grayscale or B/w view to affect pictures as well, but you never know. ----------------------------------------- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ |

Hi Steve & Sonia:
Thanks for your input. I restarted the computer in "safe mode" Hi Sonia & Steve: I did the safe mode check....same 'no-color' situation Power Point file came up with no color in background. I checked the View and sure enough it was set at high contrast....how I have no idea. I checked the color button and all the proper colors came back. I started agian in regular mode, and we had no color....did the View, checked color and we were back to normal. However when the file is saved, closed and re-opened, we revert to the wrong color designation. Have to check the color button again. Excel is still showing no fill colors....I haven't found a place that might be controlling that. Maybe we are making progress...I hope so! The same thing happens with any PPt presenation or show. Hi All:
I think I have found the culprit! 'High Contrast' setting in Accessibility Options...Display( via Control Panel) In my search for better readibilty with WindowXP , I had ticked High Contrast. This was inserted in the View menu for Power Point. I came across a casual mention of high contrast in the Excel discussion group wrt to colors, so had to do some backtracking to see where I might have used a modification. Sure enough I found it. After removing that option and going back to both Excel & PPt. they were "showing their true colors"! I guess we always need to leave a 'crumb' trail for all the things we do! Cheers "willowgarden" wrote: Hi Steve & Sonia: Thanks for your input.
