Default Connectors

Hello,

I am drawing an Org Chart (using Office 2000) using connectors. Assume that
I have one top level box with three second level boxes under it. When I move
the second level boxes, ie. add extra space between them, the connectors go
out of line. When I use the 'Reroute connectors' option, the connectors on
the top level box reroute so that three out of the shape's four sides have a
connector coming from it.

-Is there some way I can reroute only one end of a connector line?
-If you need to redesign an org chart, are you better off deleting all
connectors, realigning the boxes and then readding the connectors?
-I am aware that Office 2000 has Org Chart and Office 2003 has diagrams.

If anybody can answer these questions or provide any helpful advice on
creating org charts that are easy to maintain I would be grateful.

Thanks,
MarkN

The best option for you is to not use Org Chart at all.

Instead create boxes and connectors using PowerPoint's AutoShapes - you have
many shapes that you can use as well as several connector types to link the
shapes together.

Thanks for the response,

People keep telling me that you are better off using Autoshapes and
connectors but if you start moving the boxes around and then reroute the
connectors, weird and wonderful things start happening.

Hi,

First, some info on connectors is he

http://www.pptworkbench.com/html/connectors.htm

Second. If you move autoshapes around and the connectors are set correctly,
they shouldn't go astray. To reroute one end, first click the connector
once, then move your mouse over one end where it is connected. Your mouse
cursor should change and you should be able to reroute only one end.
