Default resize button does not work in word

This is a problem I have never faced though I used Word for such a long time
and hope someone can help. The Maximize/Restore Down button on the title bar
is behaving in a weird manner. It is maximizing the document and putting it
in full screen mode, but I want to move the around and try to resize the
window, the whole document is disappearing and collapsing into the title bar.
The only thing I can see now is a blue rectangular title bar (about
5"X0.25") with the minimize, maximize, and close buttons. The only way I can
the text now is by clicking on the maximize button where I cannot resize the
window again, not move it around. Also, I find that although the margins
are all set to normal, the right hand margin is not working at all, and text
is flowing well beyond the righthand limit (indicated by a triangular
knob-like object) on the ruler.

First I thought this is a problem unique to this file, but to my dismay the
whole word program is behaving this way, no matter which document I open.
Can someone help?

No, I do not have dual monitors. I also found that the right indent button
is working to control the right margins (so the text does not overflow in the
same line) in print layout, but is not working in normal view as it used to
earlier.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Marushel

P.S. Since my last post, I was able to drag the lower edge of the title
bar and restore the window size to make it movable. I have also reinstalled
Word 2003, but the problem with the right indent button continues.

If you see the problem only in Normal view, perhaps you have "Wrap to
window" enabled (Tools | Options | View) and have a window that extends off
the screen?

Yes!! I disabled it and it works fine now.

Thank you very much for solving this problem, after all my efforts failed
and I virtually gave up.
