Default Outlook with gmail imap with duplicate sent email

I use Outlook for gmail, POP mail and Hotmail.

In order for me to not have two sent email in gmail using imap, I have to
disable "Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder". When I do this, is
causes other mail accounts, pop and hotmail, to not save sent mail.

Is there any way around this? Do I have to choose between getting 2 sent
email for gmail or not saving sent email for other accounts?

Create a rule that places copies of all sent mail in the Sent Items folder.
Make it the last rule and make sure the rules prior to it have the "stop
processing more rules" action specified.

I'm not sure what rule would accomplish this. Besides I'm not sure how this
will help. I want both gmail and hotmail to save sent email in it's own sent
folder since I access both accounts from work and home.

Turn off the option in Outlook top save copies of sent mail in the Sent
Items folder and let rules do all the saving into the folders of your
choice.

I don't think you understand the issue.

First rules do not work with hotmail account.

Second, if I let Outlook use default setting, hotmail and pop works fine;
however, imap gmail saves 2 copies of sent mail to the sent folder.

Third, if I tell Outlook to save sent mail to folder of my choice, gmail
will save it in sent folder and the folder of my choice. It just saves in 2
different place instead of 2 copies to sent folder.

Fourth, if I turn off "Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder", pop
and hotmail does not save sent email at all.

I'm aware of that

Second, if I let Outlook use default setting, hotmail and pop works
fine; however, imap gmail saves 2 copies of sent mail to the sent
folder.

That's a gmail issue. See this:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/a...18&topic=12812

Fourth, if I turn off "Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder",
pop and hotmail does not save sent email at all.

They do if you include the catch-all rule I suggested.

Either I'm not understanding you answers or you are not understanding my issue.

You say you know that you can't use rules with hotmail but you say to use
"catch-all rule" to save hot mail sent mail.

The link you include is for pop access issue with gmail. I'm using imap.

Right. Outgoing rules should work. You're not trying to operate on the
Hotmail Inbox.

The link you include is for pop access issue with gmail. I'm using
imap.

Both POP and IMAP use SMTP for outgoing mail and Google is saying that mail
sent using their SMTP server will have copies placed in the sender's gmail
Inbox. That applies to both POP and IMAP.
