Default Sharing address book by multiple OSes

I am sharing a mail folder and an address book from many OSes(W2K, WXP,
W2K3, etc.). Sharing a mail folder is no problem, but for some reason
sharing an address book is so far problematic. From time to time when the
address book is accessed from one of the many OSes it is empty. Then I
manage to fix it but fixing process is not always straight forward and I had
to do many trials and errors. Path to the wab file in the registry which to
be shared always stays unchanged. What could be wrong with my setup? How
a folder list which is by executing wab /a should relate to the address book
sharing set up? This list appears to be altered when a problem happens.
Please help.

Take a look at
The Windows Address Book (WAB)
http://www.insideoe.com/files/wab.htm

Note that the format of the address book changed at OE version 5.01. If any of the OSes
is still using OE 5.00, it will have a problem with the address book.
