Default Unable to open file

I have a third party application that allows me to export
data to excel. When I try to do it, I get the following
error: "[filename] cannot be accessed. The file may be
read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only
location. Or the server the document is stored on may
not be responding."

I am running Windows XP. I recently upgraded from Office
XP to Office 2003. That is when my problem began.

Does anyone have any fixes?

ToolsOptionsGeneral uncheck "Ignore other Applications"
Exit Excel and try again

If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel

Close Excel first and
On the Windows Taskbar

1 ) StartRun "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)OK.
2) StartRun "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK.
See the space between exe and /regserver

You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe.
In that case StartRun "C:\yourpath\excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK.

"Ignore other Applications" was already unchecked.

I did re-register Excel and that did not help either.
Any other suggestions?

My third party software provider tells me that if the
windows and office versions are not the same this can
happen. I do not understand why this would be the case.

How are you trying to access the file? Through Excel or through Explorer?
Where is the file located? On your HD? On a floppy? On a Server? What AV are
you using? Have you tried running the file from the 3rd party software,
waiting a while, then accessing it? Have you cleared out your Temp internet
files and your Temp file directories?

When I export the file, it automatically launches Excel
and is supposed to open the file.

It creates a tab delimited file on a mapped network
drive. I have to copy the file to my local drive to be
able to open it. I have other users that have Windows XP
and Office XP and they can do this without any issues.

All my users are using Norton Anti-virus and I have
emptied all my temp files.

I have no other ideas.

Thanks for your attention. I really appreciate it,
Sheldon

I do have Norton setup to scan all files. But I have
disabled Microsoft Exchange protection as we do not use
Microsoft for our e-mail.

I do not have an addin for MS Office.
