Adding File to Import File Spec
I put this question out to another group but got no
responses. Thought I would try here. In Access 97 I can edit an existing file import specification and save it. In Access 2000 I can not. I can open an existing import spec and add a new field at the end. When I save the spec, it appears to save okay but the new field does not get added to the spec. The spec has the same fields as before. Does everyone else have this problem? I tried it on several machines in my work area and all behave the same. TIA. |

Adding File to Import File Spec
Ken,
I may not be any help but at least I can empathize. I had the same issue with a database in Access 2000. It was extremely frustrating and I could not determine the cause. I had to create a new import spec with the new fields and that saved fine. ----- Ken wrote: ----- I put this question out to another group but got no responses. Thought I would try here. Adding File to Import File Spec
Jackie, thanks for the feedback. I thought my message went
into "neverland." My import spec has 140+ fields and I don't relish having to do it again. One alerntive for me is to edit the spec in Access 97 and import it into Access 2000. (I have both versions on my machine.) I also plan to try to get into an Access chat room discussion today. If I do and get an answer, I will post it here. -----Original Message----- Ken, I may not be any help but at least I can empathize. I had the same issue with a database in Access 2000. The problem is a MS bug.
However, there is a work-around. See the MS knowledge base article 271798. -----Original Message----- Jackie, thanks for the feedback. I thought my message went into "neverland."
