Default Record Laptop Presentations for future use

I hope I am posting this to the right newsgroup. If not, please let me know which one is appropriate and I will post it there.
Here is what I want to accomplish:
I am a teacher at a local tech school. For my classroom lecture, I use a laptop and a projector. I use ppt slides to show concepts, then use my laptop to show how to implement these concepts. What I would like to do is: record my lectures (using a microphone) and what is being displayed on my laptop (something similiar to what is shown on the MSDN Webcasts).
Also I would like to be able to burn these presentations to CD so my students can view the lectures at a later date if neccessary. My questions is: What software do I need to be able to accomplish this? If I have to buy the software, it would have to be cheap(ie free if possible or less than $50.00). My operating system is Windows 2000 Pro, but can switch to XP if needed. Laptop is a Athon 1800 with 1 gig of ram and 10 gigs free diskspace.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
