external image files on a report (continuation)
The solution you suggested works very good - thanks again.
I encountered a new problem related to this topic. According to your advise I put the following line to print and format event: Me.BookCover.Picture = IIf(Me.IsCover= true, Me.BookCoverPath, "") to avoid problems when the file specified in [BookCoverPath] field does not exist I add a logical field to source table: [IsCover] indicating physical presence of the file. Surprisingly when there is no file MS Access 2000 displays on the raport the image from previous record for which the image existed instead of the blank place. In this case for the book without a cover program displays the cover of the previous book (with the cover). How to avoid this problem? Regards "Larry Linson" wrote in message ... In the Print event for the Section of the Report that contains the Image control, set the Picture property of the Image control to that fully qualified path-and-file name. Asf you are printing the images in reports, to avoid memory leakage, you should also see MVP Stephen Lebans' http://www.lebans.com/printfailures.htm. PrintFailure.zip is an Access97 MDB containing a report that fails during the Access formatting process prior to being spooled to the Printer Driver. This MDB also contains code showing how to convert the contents of the Image control to a Bitmap file prior to printing. This helps alleviate the "Out of Memory" error that can popup when printing image intensive reports. Larry Linson Microsoft Access MVP "Veetold" wrote in message ... I have a problem with displaying image files (jpg) on my report. I got a solution from Larry Linson (Microsoft Access MVP) for which I'm grateful, but I still don't exactly know how to link an image control with the specific file - all information: path name, file name and file extention are included in one field of each record in the report source table (data of this shape: \\server_name\folder_name\file_name.jpg). Any help appreciated. Cheers |

I found a solution.
I created a blank jpg file (blank_file.jpg) and modified my formula: Me.BookCover.Picture = IIf(Me.IsCover= true, Me.BookCoverPath, "\\server_name\folder_name\blank_file.jpg") Cheers "Veetold" wrote in message ...
