Default Word 2000 format problem with BREAKS

I'm running Windows XP. Over the years that I've done newsletters with
columns, I've had the problem with inserting CONTINUOUS BREAKS that seem to
independently become PAGE BREAKS. I thought that there was something about
going to NORMAL view and deleting the Page Break, but it returns as soon as I
go to the Print View.

There must be some way to get rid of the unwanted Page Break, but I can't
find it.

Is the solution to learn to use PUBLISHER?

Hi =?Utf-8?B?VGhvcnBpZQ==?=,

independently become PAGE BREAKS. I thought that there was something about
going to NORMAL view and deleting the Page Break, but it returns as soon as I

There must be some way to get rid of the unwanted Page Break, but I can't
find it.

Are they switching to Page breaks, or to Next Page type of section breaks?

If the latter, try changing the setting in File/Page Setup/Layout for new
section breaks to "Continuous" (by default it's "Next page"). This was a common
problem in Word 2000.

If footnotes are involved, see this article:

Cindy's answer took care of my problem -- I think. The way the problem would appear, after everything working OK for up to 20 continuous breaks and then doing its own thing on me, makes me leary of saying that it is now cured. The setup page of all things -- I've been there a million times and never realized that the "break" had a setting on that page. (The issue was not with a footnote.)
