Activities Not Showing - 2007
Just start by seeing if your Outlook Address Book view is working as it
should. Here are the instructions for configuring the service: http://support.microsoft.com/default...Product=ol2002 -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "activetrouble" wrote in message ... I think that may be a bit over my head but if you could point me in a general direction it would be greatly appreciated. thank you very musch for your patience Russ. Rob I.E. would i see if the adress book is right. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Outlook creates links using it MAPI protocols some of which are included in the Outlook Address Book Service. So if activities are not appearing that you think should, the Outlook Address Book Service is one of the first things to check. That's assuming of course, that you installed Outlook clean and actually created a new Outlook profile and data store from scratch with this installation. http://support.microsoft.com/default...Product=ol2002 -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "activetrouble" wrote in message ... Oulook is my default mail client. As far as transports i guess I need to educate myself more. I have no idea what a transport is. I'm still a little lost as to how my E-mail configuration would affect a meeting being linked to a contact. I'm not invieting them via E-mail im just attaching the meeting to thier file at the bottom of the meeting setup screen. Thanks Rob "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: I understand completely. Outlook 2007 works fine. The problem you are having most often arises when Outlook's transports are not installed and configured properly. Hence my question which still awaits your answer. You also need to ensure that your mail transports are working correctly and that Outlook is your default mail client. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "activetrouble" wrote in message ... Soory russ you are not understanding the problem. at the bottom of an appointment there is a box marked "contact" any contact I put in that box, used to show up under history or activities in all other versions of outlook. judging by the number of posts, I am not wrong here, this fuction does not work properly in outlook 2007. these entries do not always show up in activities.. thanks Rob "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: State how you configured your Outlook Address Book Service in this new installation. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "activetrouble" wrote in message ... Sorry Russ swithed was the wrong term.. Installed oulook 2007 "clean" created contacts now when I look in there activities appointments that were linked to them don't always show up I.E. opened up a contact looked in activities and appoinment was there, looked up another contact, went back to the first, information gone. Most of the time appoinments that have been linked to a contact don't show in activities. Any help thanks Rob "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: You said you "switched from an earlier version." State how you did so clearly and accurately. It is the likely source of your problem since there is no way to "switch from an earlier version" with Outlook. Outlook should only be installed clean. Data can only be switched from an earlier version by connecting a clean installation to your former data source correctly. Your symptoms suggest you failed to do so. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "activetrouble" wrote in message ... There was no migrated data.. unless i dont understand the term... contact was created in oulook 2007. make an appointment and at the bottom link it to a contact. when I go to that contacts activities the appoinment does not show in his/hers activities. any help would be apprecited. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Answer is the same. If you want to know how you migrated your data incorrectly, you must tell us how you did it. As it is, you must create a new profile and migrate your data correctly. It is your profile that is corrupt. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "activetrouble" wrote in message ... I have the same problem yet the contacts were created in oulook 2007. this is a problem I have run into since switching from an earlier version... the activities tab is not consistant activities do not show up always reguardless of ho wthey were created i.e. old versions migrated or originals in 2007 "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Upgrades NEVER "take care of data migration." Upgrade installations are not recommended. When you attempt one you must create a new Outlook Profile from scratch and migrate your data to it correctly. The file you need to migrate is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored. Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer: http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...771141033.aspx Note that some of the information on these pages is outdated and no longer applies to Outlook 2003 or 2007. Specifically: 1. Ignore any advice to copy your PST file to Outlook's default location to connect it to your profile. Doing so only corrupts your profile. Copy it anywhere BUT the default location and open it within your Outlook profile. 2. Ignore any advice that tells you to use export or import to transfer Outlook data. That has never been sound advice, but the process has become too deeply flawed now to be of any use whatsoever. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "noelma" wrote in message ... I see several other messages on this - but no answers. I upgraded from 2003 to 2007. The upgrade took care of the data migration - when 2007 opened, all my 2003 data was there. So I assume the 2007 version simply used my existing pst file. However, my problem is that linked activities do not show consistantly in the Activities tab of the contact. I can open a contact, and there all there - close and re-open the same contact and none are displayed! |
