"All of which installed"

Does this mean KB973593 was installed or not?

You may want to hold off on the installation of the update.

Several reports of a bug in it.

If you mean "uninstall" then Add/Remove got rid of it for me.

The other Office updates in the package installed but not this one. Now I
find that I do not even have Excel on my system although I have the rest of
Office 2007 (Word, Power Point, etc). I intend to attempt to "repair"
tonight. I am not sure whetherI can just reload Excel or whether I have to
remove all of Office 2007 and then reinstall everything. Comments?

Did you once have Excel?

How do you know you don't have Excel?

Go to StartRun "excel.exe"

Anything?

If you never had Excel installed with Office setup you should be able to go
to Control PanelAdd/Remove and install just Excel from the options.

StartSettingsControl PanelAdd/remove programs.

Scroll down to Office 2003 or 2007 and change/remove.

Select change.

Follow your nose from there and you can see if Excel has been installed.

Have your CD ready, you may need it.
