Importing info from email

... Right now my inventory is set up in an excel file. All of my orders are received by email (we use Outlook to receive emails). If I were to move my inventory into an Access database, would it be able to reduce the number of items I have in stock from an email we receive. Also, is there an easy to way to transfer the excel file into the access file? Conceptually, you could have your customers use a specific form in Outlook and use Office Automation to read the form's contents into Access. Having them use Excel as an order form still requires you to open and save it before Access can link to and read it. Keith. |

Maybe my question was vague, but that is the reason I asked it. I do not
know exactly what I need. I thought that was the reason for these groups. Out of the 21 responses to this post only four addressed the question (vague though it was). And one of those was from you. You must understand someone's frustration when they have a problem, they see someone has answered their post and it is only about Steve - naughty, naughty, naughty Steve. My attention has been diverted to Steve because maybe he can help me with my problems like no one else is willing to do. I have read many posts on this site where someone asked a vague question and the next post said please clarify this or that for me. And then that person responded and a dialogue to help that person ensued. I will try to restrain myself from coming back to this discussion so you don't even need to reply. I will no longer visit a site that does more to argue than to help. Everyone have a nice day. Roberta "Keith Wilby" wrote: "RobertaW" wrote in message ... I am almost sorry I asked my question. I was not interested in starting a ****ing match for a bunch of little boys on the internet. I just wanted an answer to my QUESTION. Try asking a specific question. Your question was way too vague, it was akin to "how do I design a database?". Oh, and try not insulting those who can most definitely help when you do ask something meaningful. |

... Thank you very much for an actual answer or a please give me some more information. I appreciate it. Roberta It was just a stab in the dark to point you in the right direction really. I have used Office Automation to manipulate Excel from Access and I know that you can design your own forms in Outlook so, logically, you should be able to interrogate such forms from Access using VBA. Might be worth a try posting in an Outlook forum. I'm sorry you've had a bad experience because of Steve and our reaction to him. FYI, he disappeared for about 18 months and has only recently reappeared. Those 18 months were sheer bliss and I long for their return. Do return here if you need to, there are a lot of knowledgeable people here who are more than willing to help FOC. Hope you achieve your goals. Regards, Keith. www.keithwilby.com |
