Default OL2003, send/receive fail only at first start of day

Thanks for this suggestion although it's all already off. I have the
following antivirus, antispam, and antispyware software installed:

Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 (firewall, antivirus)
- virus checking of incoming and outgoing email disabled
- spam checking disabled
- firewall has no effect - seen the problem with and without it turned on

While I've not heard of it as a problem with PC-cillin, apparently with
Norton the only way to actually disable mail scanning is to uninstall it
and then reinstall it with the options disabled. Could you try that with
PC-cillin and see if that has any effect?
