Default Setting up rules for sent items

Is it possible to set up rules for sent items. I want to transfer the sent
items to a particular folder not just to the sent items folder.

Thanks
Mike

Default Setting up rules for sent items

Yoni thanks I have tried to st it up but not succeeded. I didn't know which
option to select. Once I had selected the" check messages after sending"
option I have many options in the "select conditions" list.

I chose "specific words in the subject" and the followed it though but this
seems to be the wrong choice.

What I want to do is set up a rule that sends a copy of the emails sent from
an email address confidential@ to the confidential folder. I use three email
addresses for my business and want to keep them all separate.

Thanks
Mike

Yes, it will work in 2003.
When you define a new rule (toolsrules and alertsnew rule)
choose "start from a blank rule" (radio button at the upper section)
You will then have the option "check messages after sending".

Yoni,

Thank you. Do you know whether this will work in the same way with outlook
2003.

Where can I find these two rules.

Thanks

You can set up a rule for sent items, if you choose "check messages after
sending" (in outlook 2007) or "Apply this rule after I send the message".
Then, you can define any criteria for the rule.
The shortcoming is - you can only move a copy of the message to a specified
folder. That means a copy will always stay in the sent items folder.

Gordan,

Thanks. Can you look at my previous question to Yoni as I have got so far
then don't know what to select.

If someone can give a more detailed answer it would be great.

yes they do exist in Outlook 2003 - just go to Tools-Rules and Alerts-Email
Rules-New Rule-start from a blank rule.

use the "Through This Account" option - that should then give you the option
of selecting that account.

Michael

After choosing "check messages after sending", click next.
Then you have different options to select which messages will the rule apply
to. In your case, as Gordon suggested, choose "through the specified
account". Then you click on the word "specified" at the buttom pannel and
select the relevant email account. Click next and then you should choose
what to do with those messages. In your case choose to "move a copy to the
specified folder". Clicking on "specified" will enable you to select the
folder.

I think this tutorial about outlook email rules will be helpfull for you:
http://www.psychpage.com/tech/outlook_rules.html

Once again, by using such a rule, you will only create a copy in the
specified folder. Your confidential mail will still exist in the sent items
folder.

If you want to manage all of your confidential mail seperatly, I suggest
creating a seperate data file (pst file) and use it for you confidential
account.

you can read about outlook data files at http://office.microsoft.com/en-
