Default New File Directly From Template

I have created a template for a report that has to be saved uniquely every
day, and I'm not sure how I can make it easy for my co-workers to create a
new document from it when they do their daily report.

In other words, I have a folder that contains the subfolders for each
month's reports. I would like to make it so my coworkers can double click on
an icon in that folder, which will create a new document based on this
template, so they will be forced to save it under a new, unique name,
prefferably something along the lines of, "Day Shift Report 11-19-05"

I have the template, and I'm looking at fill-in-the-blank forms to make it
better, but how can I force the creation of a new document from the template
right at the outset. Left to their own devices, the other guys will save the
same document over and over, leaving us with only the most recent shift
report saved, rather than one for each day.

thanks
Aaron

Go to File Save As and choose Template under Save As Type. That will give
the file a VST extension and automatically force a new document when the
user opens the file. If you want to actually open and edit the template,
you need to choose the dropdown arrow next to the Open buttion in the File
Open dialog. Then choose Open as Original.

Thanks, That did the trick.
PS - Sorry for posting under the wrong forum, this should have gone under
Microsoft Word, not Visio.

Thanks Again!
