Default Outlook startup fatal error: can not clean temp directory

Every time I start Outlook I get a message "Fatal Error: Can not clean
temporary directory". I click OK and everything is OK except that any
changes to screen layout I make are not repeated at the next start up. It is
just annoying and I would like to get rid of it. I have tried Scanpst but
that has not sorted the problem. Any idea?

Thanks for the idea. Tried it but unfortunately, I still have the same
problem. I am running Office 2003 on XP Professional. All components are up
to date with patches etc.
