How to remove "PST" Password? (Outlook 2007)
I just followed the steps to ad a password to my Outlook 2007 data file (pst
file). I typed the pasword twice as requested, and it was accepted. Now, the very FIRST time I try to load Outlook again, it ask for the password (of course) . . . . but does NOT ACCEPT MY PASSWORD (!) What kind of !#$!#? is this? How can I get rid of the "pst" password, so I can get to my data? The instructions for setting up the password said words-to-the-effect that "This is not very secure; just an informal protection among people you trust like family, etc." Well, how can I REMOVE the password on my own "pst" file? (I'll never do this again!) Cripes. |

check to see if your caps lock is on, also, are you sure it's not asking for
some kind of network or isp password instead? "Jim In Minneapolis" wrote: I just followed the steps to ad a password to my Outlook 2007 data file (pst file). No, the caps are not on. It is asking for the "pst" password . . . the one I just created! But it does not accept it. "Marvin P. Howdy, You might want to check this: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/pst_password.html It will give you the password. Then, either you can eliminate its use, or you will have some important diagnostic information. All the best, -- Kenneth If you email... Please remove the "SPAMLESS." |

Jim Hi Jim, I knew of that technique because a while back, my Outlook "decided on its own" that one of my PST files was password protected. It worked for me, and I am glad it worked for you.
