how can I print a page with a color background added

I write alot and I added a background color to one of my writings but when I
print the page it comes out white, but the text is the correct color. How can
I print a page and get the colored background to print as well?

In the print dialogue box, click the options button and select print
background colors and images from the printing options section.

From the cost point of view, it would be much cheaper to buy coloured
paper - also more satisfactory because almost certainly, your printer cannot
print "full bleed" (right to the edges of the sheet).

That notwithstanding, the only way to get a coloured background to print is
to use a text box that you set behind the text and fill it with the colour
that you want to use.
