Default Tab stop within table

Hello,

I have a table with two columns. Within column one, I have a tab stop but
when I hit "tab," my cursor bypasses the tab and jumps to the second column
in the table.

How do I get my cursor to the tab stop?

Ctrl+Tab is required in tables.
