PowerPoint 2003 - SaveAs default
Hi,
How do i get publisher 2003 to *ALWAYS* save its documents in publisher 2000 format? (ie, by default.) We have quite a few computers and the users here use publisher documents more than any other. Our software supplier stopped offereing office 2000 a while ago so we have been forced to buy office 2003 for our newer machines. We are now having loads of problems with some users not being able to open documents that other users have saved due to the version differences. We can save-as manually each time but this regularily gets forgotten. I can set the default in the options in other programs such as word but not in publisher. Can anyone help? (Please!) - James (PS: CC'ing your reply to my email address would be very much appreciated.) |

PowerPoint 2003 - SaveAs default
Some confusion. Publisher is Publisher and PowerPoint is not.
To get PowerPoint 2003 to behave like PowerPoint 2000, click on Tools | Options | Edit, then check the lower 3 checkboxes. This limits the available options with the PowerPoint interface to make the show compatible with prior versions. Since the file structures are the same, there should be no additional conflicts. -- Bill Dilworth, Microsoft PPT MVP =============== Please spend a few minutes checking vestprog2@ out www.pptfaq.com This link will yahoo. answer most of our questions, before com you think to ask them. PowerPoint 2003 - SaveAs default
Hi James, The subject says PowerPoint, the text talks about Publisher. PowerPoint: there should be no reason to save as anything but the default format, since all versions back to 97 use the same file format. Publisher: not a clue. But there are helpful folks in the Publisher groups on this same server that can help you, I'm sure.
