In the office I work we do all of our access data entry and updates through
query tables, within access. And can have up to 9 people using access at
once, not necessarily in the same query table. Access has been working fine
in this manner until recently when we start getting this error:

Could not update; currently locked

And then it locks up and all data entered is erased

I've searched the web for a solution, but it seems that all of the solutions
revolve around maintaining the database outside of access. However, I'm not
extremely knowledgeable with access or the windows operating system's
backend. What can I do to fix this?

What are the locking schemes of the queries?

Open any query in design view and examine the property(press F4) 'Record
Locks'.
