Default Column separator crosses through wrapped text box

Hi,

I'm getting a very peculiar behavior in Word XP.

The page layout of my document is in two columns, with a separating
line. I also want to add floating tables and images at the top and
bottom of pages. To do this, and to ensure that the table or image
caption is always "attached" to the object, I insert these tables and
figures within a text box which is located either at the bottom or the
top of the margin (I actually want to get a LaTeX-like behavior).
Wrapping style of the text box is "Top and Bottom".

Now, it all works really fine if I put the text box at the bottom of
the margin. Text columns flow above the text box, and the separating
line stops at the last text line:

However, it all goes wrong if the text box is located at the top of
the page. In this case, the separating line crosses the text box and
continues with the text columns below:

How can I make the separating line disappear in the latter case, just
like in the former?

Thanks in advance.

Raphael

I experimented with this. A freshly inserted text box worked properly
no matter where I moved it.

I converted the wrapping to "Through" and the line went through the
text box. I then converted the wrapping back to "Top and Bottom" and
the line remained! No matter what I tried I couldn't get rid of it.

I deleted the text box and added a new one, and it worked fine.
