Default Database defaults to open as form...

I have an inherited database, it opens in form view with no toolbar and I
can't seem to get it to open in desing view. Any tips? The creator of the
database says there is a trick to opening with a keyboard shortcut but I
can't find that trick online.
Thanks!

Hold down the Shift key while opening it.

Look at Tools - Startup Options to see what happens when you don't
hold the Shift key down.

Hold down the SHIFT key while the database is opening.
