Default Help Please --- does anyone know of a database/template on scheduling school bus or public transportation bus ?

Hello ...

Many thanks in advance ...

Does anyone know of a database/template on scheduling school bus or
public transportation bus ? I would like to look at a database that
revolves around the scheduling of school buses ...

I will be developing a School Bus Scheduling application and would
like to see how others have designed same ... need help figuring out
how to schedule 300 buses (public school bus) to transport students to
about 50 schools in the morning, midday and afternoon ...

Thanks Again !!!

I would suggest you begin building your tables in Excel first. Then later you can import them into your database. My guess you will need at least the following tables but you can add less or more and you can add less or more columns to each table:
A) Bus ID (bus#)
B) Bus Driver ID
c) Route Number
d) Schools
e) Schedule Code (am, morning)....
Once you have the table structure built, then add your actual data....
If everything is there, then you can begin on the database aspect...

Many thanks !

I started building the tables in Excel and came up with ... (Bear with
me please ...)
A) Bus ID
B) Rate Code
..... hmmm (help please ...)

The real-life situation is this ... the data base is for a public
school district that needs to start capturing the data on 300 buses it
leases from a private company ...

Right now, the private company invoices the school district by
providing the school district a breakdown by bus and a daily usage od
those buses ... because the school district does not have any system
to capture the same info, it ends up paying what's on the invoice ...

So the idea is to input the paper documents that the school district
fills out when it orders the buses ... in said documents, the bus id
is captured, the start time and end time in the AM, the start and end
time in the PM and what they call MIDDAY which is captured as total
hours ...

There are six different types of buses ... each type has its own base
charge and each type has incremental charges after the base charge
(example: Type 1 bus if used for 3.5 hours for the whole day during
AM and PM means the school district pay $ 200 for the base hour of 3
and for the incremental .5 hrs, another x dollars charge ...) ...

At any rate, kindly provide ideas - it'll be great if I could actually
review an actual database that has some or all of the elements I
described here ...

Thank You !
James
