Not right. Explain what this "technie" told you to do so we can figure out
how you trashed your Outlook Address Book.

So...If I export my address book and save under another file name and then
delete the original file, will Outlook build a new address book or is
there a
process that I can use that will make a new address book file? I should
then, in theory, be able to import my contacts from the newly saved file
and
have the system restored to its proper working configuration...Right?

It happened when I first got the program almost 5 years ago. All I recall is
being told to create a new address book named with my name. I have both on
my computer a KM.wab and a contacts.wab.

PST is the file extension, but I doubt that will help you. I assume your
Contacts all appear in the Contacts Folder correctly, right? If you open the
Address Book in Outlook Express and look at Tools Options..., is sharing
enabled? Can you see your Outlook Contacts in Outlook Express?

Then your Contacts are stored in your Outlook Contacts Folder which is being
used as the data source for your Windows Address Book as well.
IMO provides no ability to repair the address book. Try repairing the
address book in Word by removing and re-adding it using the Office
Maintenance Wizard.

Just in case you're still monitoring this thread, I had the same problem and
discovered it was a corrupt contact. I found it by deductive reasoning after
several days of frustration. When the contact was opened the file name in
the bar at the top of the window was "Unamed contact" where it would
typically be the "display as" name. Hope this gives you a clue.
