Default Add superscript & subscript to font "effects"

I often type chemical formulas, and math equations in my email text. Since
MS Word in my email editor, why aren't superscript & subscript available to
me in this version?

They are; Format- Fonts...
You can even modify your Toolbar so they become buttons.
