Header - Footer question...

In setting up a template for our Policies and Procedure documents, the
format of the document needs to designed as follows:

- Header for each page that contains a small logo with various information
and page number

- Body, this is to be cut and pasted from an existing Word document

-Footer that is found ONLY on page one that contains signature blocks, etc.

-Subsequent pages would have the above Header information and continuing
text for body. NO FOOTER.

What would be the best way to build this template or, is there a way to turn
off the footer on the subsequent pages? I've created a template that has
the header and footer, however, the footer appears on all subsequent pages.

Eventually, we want to publish these in .pdf for intranet access, thus we'll
need to distill to Adobe Acrobat.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ray,

In File Page Setup Layout, check the box for "Different first page".
This enables a separate header and footer area on the first page, separate
from the ones for all other pages.

If the template itself has only one page, you'll need to insert a manual
page break temporarily so you can get access to the header and footer for
pages 2 and beyond. Assuming you want the same header on all pages, you
should copy the header from page 2 into the header for page 1 (use the
Previous and Next buttons on the Header/Footer toolbar to move between
headers).

Place the desired footer in the First Page footer pane, and leave the page 2
footer blank.

Finally, remove the temporary page break (if you added one) and save the
template. Whenever a document based on the template exceeds one page, then
page 2 and beyond will have blank footers.
