Default No entries in addressbook under distribution list select members?

When I create a new distribution list and then click select members I get No
entries in this addressbook dispite having a couple hundred contacts.
(Setting is show members from the Outlook Addressbook.) I had reinstalled
Outlook and the problem started after that.
How can I find my contacts when creating a distribution list?

Is that contacts folder enabled as an address book?

I also do not have any of my contacts appear when I click on TO when
emailing. I must type in the beginning of a name and then hit crtl K to bring
up a list of names to select from for each and every entry.

When I tried to set up a distribution list, this is the message I got.
The address list could not be displayed. The Contact list associated with
this folder could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted; or you do
not have permissions.

What do I need to do?

thanks for any help you can give me.

I have this exact same problem.

I've tried your suggestion, but when I click on properties and go to the
address book tab, it does not allow me to check the box that says make it an
address book.

Thank you for your suggestions.

State your Outlook version.
State whether you added the Outlook Address Book Service to your profile.

I have a brand new computer with Windows Vista and Outlook 2007 Office.
I used a data transfer cable to move over information from my old system to
my new.
It transferred over my old outlook profiles and when it did it transferred
my old PAB to the Business Contacts manager. So, when I have my email up and
I use the contacts link on the left side of the screen it brings up all of my
folders and all of my contacts from my old PAB.

BUT... if I click on 'To:' in a message, or if I click on Address book at
the top or if I try to populate a Distribution List that I created by right
clicking in the contacts area and creating new DL... it says I can't populate
it because there are no entries in the Address book.

It seems to be treating the 'contacts' and the Address book as two separate
entities where the contacts in Business Manager have my addresses and
information and the Address Book is empty.

Thank you.

Outlook hasn't used a PAB for over 10 years. Why were you?
You haven't answered my question yet. Nor have you told us how you migrated
your Outlook data. The fact that you used a "transfer cable" tell us
nothing.
