Default Default auto-recover to OFF

Is there any way to set the default for auto-recover to
off? I know how to set it on a document by document
basis, but I would like it to default to off.

Uncheck the Plug-in before opening any spreadsheets. You can also
prevent users from re-selecting it by deleting the *.xll or *.xla
