Default Printing pdf files from word tables

I have a word 2000 document including boxed tables (order form) which I want
to use to create a pdf file. I have tried Acrobat 5.0 and various "pdf
writers" but all cause random loss of some cell borders and excessive
"bolding" of others. It appears to happen most frequently where 4 vertically
merged cells (creating 1 big cell) is/are followed by 4 vertical "non-merged
cells". I have created the same form in Excel 2000 - and this converts to PDF
perfectly - but it is obviously much harder to edit what is essentially a
text file in Excel. Any ideas?
