Expanded Character Space in PowerPoint
Hi,
I am experiencing a peculiar problem in PowerPoint2007. When i start a new presentation or open an old file, there are lot of gaps between characters. I am not able to reduce the space between the letters. |

That could be a problem of a missing font, which is replaced by another one
on your screen. Which font is used in these presentations? Is that font installed on your computer? Please try the following: Choose Format - Replace fonts and look, whether there are any fonts with a question mark in the dropdown list at the top. If so, replace them with a common font like Arial, Tahoma, Verdana or so. Thanks for the quick reply.
However, i have already tried this. No matter which font i have tried, the result is same. It is to add that, previously i have installed a lot of fonts in my machine. Now i have uninstalled some fonts (still around 300 fonts in my fonts folder) but still facing the same problem. The fonts work perfectly in word/any other package but shows gaps in powerpoint. You're saying that text always has too much spacing, no matter which font you choose in PowerPoint 2007, then? Do you have a printer driver installed on your computer and set as default? Expanded Character Space in PowerPoint
Dear Steve,
Yes, i have printer drivers installed which is set to default and was able to print in any font using word and other applications. Dont know why PowerPoint behaves like this. I have tried to change to system fonts like Ariel, Tahoma etc. but with no luck. Will reinstalling the software help? Tammy, I also would like to reduce the space between words. In addition, I have tried to control the number of words on a line in order to improve upon the quality of the presentation. I went around and around with Microsoft PowerPoint Tech Support for several days on this dilema before they admitted they have no solution to your or my problem. PowerPoint does not have "character spacing," a way adjust the spacing between letters. According to Tech Support, this feature is available for every Microsoft product except PowerPoint. If Microsoft is planning to add "character spacing" to their next edition of PowerPoint, I'd like to know about it. Until then, i am out of luck. The next version will do kerning, so your text will look better but there's still no interactive character spacing control as there would be in, say, a desktop publishing program. Actually I am having this same problem. My only comment is that PPT 2007
looks GREAT on my desktop but I have the Font issue described above only on my Laptop (of course this is the unit I use to display my presentations). Why are the fonts fine on my desktop but not my laptop? "Wally P." wrote: "Wally P." wrote: Tammy, I also would like to reduce the space between words. By default PowerPoint 2007 uses the default print driver to display behavior
and appearance. I think if you change the default print drive you will see a difference. Does the laptop and the desktop use the same default printer driver?
