How to make the line above a footnote align to left margin?
The line above the footnote is indented beyond the left margin and I can't
figure out how to realign that line with the margin. How do you move the line above the footnote? |

Most likely you've added a first-line indent to Normal style, and the
separator has inherited it. Switch to Normal view, and View | Footnotes. In the dropdown on the toolbar, choose Footnote Separator. Right-click on the separator, select Paragraph, and remove the indent. -- Suzanne S. What was "Normal" view is now Draft view.
In Draft view, in the References ribbon tab, click Insert Footnote. In the footnote pane title bar, click the dropdown arrow to Footnote Separator. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Jim Teeters" wrote in message ... In Word 2007, normal view is called 'draft'. To edit the footnote separator
(or anything else to do with how footnotes are displayed), select draft view (icons bottom right of the status bar) and then select 'Show Notes' from the References Tab. This will display a split screen. At the top of the bottom screen there is a dropdown Window 'Footnotes'. Select the footnote separator from the drop down list and edit it as you wish. Reset will put the default separator back. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Jim Teeters wrote: I have Word 2007 and can't find "normal view" and "footnote separator." As suggested in previous messages in this thread, your footnote separator
probably has acquired undesirable formatting. Switch to Normal view (Word 97-2003) or to Draft view (in Word 2007). Show the footnote pane (in Word 2003, click View | Footnotes; in Word 2007, click References tab | Show Notes). In the list box, choose "Footnote Separator." Use the Paragraph dialog box to clear any left or first line indent. When you are done, close the pane and return to your favorite view. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP (Message posted via msnews.microsoft.com) manije abasi wrote in message ... how to make the line above a footnote align to left margin?
