Default Power point saved size keeps going up

I have a 9 slide ppt that started out at 1,637 KB and after a few days of
making updates to the sllide it is now over 4MB. Which by the way slows power
point way down. We have used the same ppt for a few years now and statered
doing this after we got office 2007. I do not have a viruse on my computer,
change tracking is turned off.

Are you saving the slide in 97-2003 format?

The main changes to the slides are text changes. Place the cursor before a
character and re-type text. From the master we "insert objects" mostly ovals
with text in them, so with the 2007 we change the color of these ovals and
delete and re-type the text. I'll try looking at it with the zip format and
see what I can find

PPT 2007 doesn't have an "allow fast saves" feature, so the only thing I
know that makes 2007 files quite large is, when you save the file as 97-2003
format, any objects that use new features in 2007 become images so that they
display properly in prior versions.

For example, if you use the glow or reflection feature on text in 2007, it
will become an uneditable image when opened in 2003, but will still be
editable when you open the file again in 2007. This is great for editing,
but it does increase the file size.

It's also possible that you have multiple masters. Each master now has a
full set of collateral layouts, and those can add up. It really just depends
what's on the masters and layouts, though.

You can rename the PPTX file with a ZIP exentsion and then you can open it
like a typical ZIP file -- when you look inside you'll see various stuff
used in your file: the theme XML file and stuff like that, pictures, etc.
Maybe that would help you see what exactly is causing the size issue.

Did you drag-and-drop anything onto the slides when you created the
presentation?
