Word opens without the default printer
When Word is opened and I go to print my 1st document - the default printer
is no longer automatically filled in on the "Print" window. I have to use the drop down menu to select it. It will then keep my selection until I close Word. When Word is opened I have to re-select my default printer even though it is marked as the default in "My Computer". I do not have this problem in Excel or any other program. Maybe it got changed somehow in your normal.dot template. What printer
does it show instead? What version of Word? Word opens without the default printer
As far as I know, Word *always* uses the default printer in Windows. A macro
would be required to affect that behavior; see http://word.mvps.org/faqs/macrosvba/...CurPrinter.htm. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Peter T. Daniels" wrote in message ... I have seen this happen occasionally, and my hunch has been that it results
from impatience--starting Word before Windows has quite finished loading. -- Suzanne S. OK, I hadn't noticed that.

Well, perhaps you're not as impatient as I. Or you may not shut down every
night and boot up every morning. g -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA http://word.mvps.org "Stefan Blom" wrote in message ... I do shut down my computer every night, so I guess I'm less impatient than
you. :-) -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote in message ... Well, perhaps you're not as impatient as I. Word opens without the default printer
In most cases I'll get up, turn on the computer, and go down to breakfast,
but sometimes I think of something I "need" to do write away (usually something semi-urgent that occurred to me just as Windows was shutting down the night before). -- Suzanne S.
